Who We Are

Mediquipment was incorporated originally as a private company on 12 February 1986, to serve as a distribution and service agency for medical and hospital equipment. Having started from a small office with a staff of just three, we now have a staff of 55 and are registered as a public (unlisted) company, exclusively marketing and servicing devices from an array of eminent equipment providers in the territory of Sri Lanka.

Mediquipment’s founder, Asanka Goonewardena, brought with him a successful marketing record, enabling the organization to expand rapidly in its initial years. In 1989 the company was joined by Rohan Pethiyagoda, a biomedical engineer who had served formerly as Director of Biomedical Engineering in the Ministry of Health. Today, in addition to Asanka and Rohan, the board includes David J. Krishnapillai, an electrical engineer; Rohan Victoria, a professional manager; Nalin Navaratne, who heads the company’s technical services division; and Aruna Alles, who oversees marketing activity. The sales division is headed by Rienzie Nanayakkara, while Nilushika Hapuarachchi heads the finance division.
